I've been playing for maybe a couple months now, and I'm looking to start playing actual songs. Any suggestions? Any suggestions on some good books to pick up too? |

I started with the grease album ( yeah I know you probably thinking boooo ) but when you learn it the lines are pretty groovy anyway I was about a teenager when the movie came out so naturally I was drawn to the groove
Anyway the bottom line is that should learn the song that you want to play and is a favourite of yours then you can enjoy playing which is a good moto to go by
Peace and happy practicing |

| | | | title? I just started playing a month ago now. Here's a few I have learned :-
Roxanne - Sting (easy)
Teenage Kicks - Undertones (really easy and fun)
Hate to say I told you so - Hives (easy and boring)
Breathe - Pink Floyd (nice, but weird)
Paranoid - Black Sabbath (bit too fast for me)
Money - Pink Floyd (love it!)
Reach Out - Four Tops (hard but very rewarding)
Heard it through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye (as above)
I'm in a Motown kinda mood at the moment, so thats where I'll stay for a while! Got a Motown book from Bass Signature Licks, or something like that. Got all the tab and a CD with it. Also bought a couple of general instruction books but never read them.
Damn I love bass! |

If you're in a Motown mood, you must get the quintessential bass book "Standing In the Shadows of Motown". It's a history lesson and bass R&B/funk schooling all rolled into one. Heck it even comes with CDs! |
