Thanks to Ed's book "Bass Method" the complete edition, i can read music. **** that book is boring, but it taught me. Now what? I need/want to play something. Horribly bad. What should i play/get? I just want to play something. Most of the music i listen to is tuned below C and heavily distorted. Anyone have any interesting blues suggestions?

OK you can read - not trying to yank your chain - go get some sheet music on songs you like and play from that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvAdX...eature=related

Or play chord tones to the following 12 bar blues progression:

E7///| A7///| E7///| E7///|

A7///| A7///| E7///| E7///|

B7///| A7///| E7///| B7///:| (turnaround)

That chord progression will play a bunch of blues.
Start with roots, add some 5's a b7 perhaps an eight and see what you can do with that.

As far as the music you listen to being tuned other than standard ----- the music you find need not be.

I'm not sure that helped. Ask questions.

I think you should ask yourself that. What do you want to play?

Get a copy of "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" and read that stuff- no tab to help you cheat, and the rhythms will be a test. Plus you'll learn a LOT about the playing of the man who was instrumental in changing how the electric bass was thought of and used in pop music.

The Carol Kaye books are very good for ramping up your reading.
