I'm talking about your duffle, not your bass bag.

a towel
duct tape
extra strings
9 volts
extra strap
extention cord
polarity tester
super glue
chewing gum
cords

If you're going to be a boy scout, a change of clothes, band-aids, a flash light (those little mag lights are standard fare in a gig bag or on your keychain), some tools (what if the problem is that your strap button comes off & not the strap itself?)

A nice piece of ash (a joke in itself!) and a plunge router, just in case you need to carve out a new body between sets.

Spare set of bass strings, spare 9VDC batteries, one extra of every cable, a 15' heavy (at least 16 ga.) extension cord, a power strip, towels, analgesic, hand santizer, a Leatherman, spare fuses for everything, a Shure SM-57, Sharpie markers, ink pens, a legal pad, Mini-Mag flashlight, three-to-two prong AC adaptors, ear plugs, drum key, spare set of guitar strings (I've actrually SOLD strings on stage to moronic guitards), clip-on music stand light, picks, soldering iron, rosin core solder, small tool kit with various socket heads, screw driver bits, pliers, Crescent wrench, etc. Spare guitar strap, business cards, and some bandages.

And, I've used every single one of those at gigs in the last 30 years.

Gig bag strings, pencils, extra cable, screwdriver, diag' cutter, is about it. Also like a gig bag that the pocket is big enough for my laptop. Sometime need my laptop for assorted reasons. The rest of the stuff most are listing I have a fiberboard bongo case and put all that stuff in there. So gigbag and small case got everything covered.

I'm surprised no one has listed earplugs. They're the most indispensible accessory in my bag.

+1 If you lose or damage your hearing all the other "tools" are redundant.

Only ONE person has mentioned this?
A small budget tuner is essential.
