What Duck Done is available again

Sign in to disble this ad
"What Duck Done" has been out-of-print for awhile. I inquired about the book on their website some time back, and I must have been subscribed to their mailing list. It appears that the book is not yet in stores, just on their website. They are working on a new version that has tabulature as well as standard notation.

Quote:
Dear Customers,

We are writing to inform you our book "What Duck Done" is now available for immediate shipment.

The cost of our book had remained at 24.95$, however, due to increased shipping costs we've raised our shipping and handling cost to 6.00 (US), 11.00$ (Canada and Mexico) and all other destinations 13.00$. We ship via USPS Priority Mail to ensure prompt and reliable service, delivery guaranteed 1-3 days (US) and all others 6-10 days.

We still anticipate the release of the second edition of What Duck Done, which will contain all the same material written in notation and tablature, in the coming weeks. We hope to release our first and long awaited "method" book in the near future, as well.

Please visit our website at www.bassisbodacious.com for availability and pricing for our new products.

Thank you all for your patience and interest in our book. I apologize for any inconvenience.

oh great, yet more tab. The original edition not having tab was what forced me to get my act together with notation...

Duck Done book

Has anyone tried to order this yet? I sent a check by mail a few weeks ago to the address on the web site and it came back undeliverable. Looks like if you try to order online through paypal the shipping price is still $4, so I don't know if the web site has been been updated or if you will actually get the book if you place the order.

what duck done: the book from bodacious bass site

Hey all,

I went to the web site and did the paypal thing, seemed to go okay. I'll post again to confirm delivery, how long it took and just what I got for my $30.

I'll give a review of the recordings and book.

what duck done: the book from bodacious bass site

Hey all,

Ordered the book 8/23, book arrived usps priority 8/28. No problem with paypal. I was about to email, but checked my PO box today, and it had been there since friday.

Looks great, very crisp printing. Spiral bound, so I can fold it back flat. Tracks sound nice, clear examples of notation. Bass is mixed to the left so you can totally isolate, or mix. These are rerecordings, not originals, and they do a nice job, no vocals, just what you need to get the feel.

Tracks on the two cd's are in order with the book's transcriptions.

I'm happy with it, got some great tunes to learn, right up our alley as far as music goes.

A minor detail, the track number, cd number could be printed on the transcription, because while the table of contents is complete, and subdivided by artists name, the track list is printed on the cd's. Once I stick it in the player I can't see the titles. I suppose I'll recognize the tunes after a couple times through, but if you want to skip around...The tunes are in the same order as the print. Like I said pretty minor.

So now back to the head phones, two versions of Caught the Kady to get down and mix in with the taj mahal version I learned off the best of taj.

I got the first edition, no tab, but I don't do tab anyway.

Also some photos, a little history, some tech stuff about strings and amps and basses, but 95% about the music and the bass lines.

For my thirty bucks, I'm stoked.

Songs?

I'm interested in this book and went to the web site but could not find a list of songs that are in the book. Can someone tell me what songs are in this book?

The song list is like a Stax Records "best of" compilation. Only 3 songs from Booker T & the M.G.s, but plenty of songs from the likes of Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, and Sam & Dave. If you like R&B, and you like Duck, it's probably the best book you can buy. The TAB version should be available in about a month. I was going to wait, but figured this would force me to re-learn standard bass clef notation. After that I'll try to work my way through the James Jamerson book.

Same here. No cds.

Essentially, I paid $32.95 for a comb-bound book w/ no cds.

The website clearly indicates cds are part of the book.

I sent an email and have had no reply as well.

I think nobody should order this book until we get this resolved, just to make sure nothing fishy is going on here.

I smell ripoff?

Ok, now that you did not receive one i think this is not an accident at all. Like you said, the web site states it has 33 tracks on a CD that come with the book. The money is not the issue here as i'm not out hundreds of dollars but it pisses me off to be ripped off so bluntly. So as far as i'm concerned, i would advise anyone else to hold off on this purchase since you are not getting what is advertised.

Hey H20Dog,

I'm not sure you are out of luck just yet. I haven't heard anything from the seller, but I did start the dispute process with Paypal. I would recommend you do the same, it is not difficult.

If this is an honest mistake and I receive the cds, albeit a bit late, no big deal. But if this is a scam or carelessness, I'm not going to pay for it.

I guess I'm just saying, "don't give up just yet".
