What is a fret?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi

I've been playing for a while, and my bandmates keep banging on at me about 'frets'. I think I know what they mean, but it's confusing.

What is this about? Do I really need to know this? I'm very tired and sleepy now with all this thinking. Can somebody just explain this for me?

I'm going to eat some crisps. Bye!

Minor - you mean as in a scale?

Now I'm even more confused.

Don't worry about what they are, it's not important. It's how you apply them that counts.

By 'apply' do you mean as in apply for a job?

That's not very helpful.

I heard that Jaco Pastorius didn't use frets. So you don't actually need them then? If somebody could just explain this clearly it would be helpful. Other people seem to find this much easier. I feel like a ******.

Nah, I'd only worry if I'd applied for a Major Triad of jobs.
