Actually, according to the Havard Dictionary of Music the ancient Greeks tried to outlaw the Phrygian scale because it drove the young to thoughts of lust.

I haven't learned all my scales yet but I'll be learning that one real soon! The name alone gets me going

There's this mode I like which I believe to be something like an ancient Greek enharmonic mode (meaning that the mode's "characteristic interval" is a major third, and forcing the middle note of the tetrachord to be microtonally positioned). It goes "quarter tone, quarter tone, major third", then repeats a fifth higher.
