In a few weeks I have an important audition, and I want to learn two songs for it. I have already learnt "Something for Nothing" by Rush, can anyone give me some suggestions as to the other song I should learn? |

There's a series of Bach Cello Suites that would probably be impressive, if you can pull it off.

What are they looking for reading, improv, interpretation of the song, groove, and etc. So some situations will say what they are looking for. Others you can find others who have auditioned and see what they did. Last the answers to the questions above should guide you in picking songs.

i learned continuum by jaco, with his solo and everything, note for note. sure, its a lot of work, but to be honest, if you have an audition piece like that its rare for someone not to call you back.
my 2 cents..

Anyways, they're going to want you to probably play at least two prepared pieces of contrasting styles. And for ****'s sake, don't play Rush!!! They are most likely looking to see if you have the technical skills to play at a collegiate level. They're not so much wanting you to dazzle them with chops.
Also, keep your sight-reading sharp. And practice scales. Major and minors. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
