What song should i learn next?

i need something to keep me occupied.
i can play:
classical thump - victor wooten
donna lee - jaco
many other difficultish songs (depending on whos standard) but i guess these would set my benchmark here in what i can/can not play.
if u could suggest something equally or slightly more difficult, maybe something fun and exciting? try to avoid wooten or jaco, but if you must... those guys are amazing but im kinda worn-out.
Thank you sayang's!

Do you want song ideas or solo bass pieces?

You could try "anesthesia (pulling teeth) by Cliff Burton for a solo bass piece.

As far as songs go, idk, you haven't really explained what type of song you are interested in, besides difficult. And, as you said, difficult can mean many different things (harmony, rhythm, time signatures, arrangement, etc)

Also what style of music?

Well, every bass player should Cygnus X-1 Book II by (finally R&R HOF inductees) Rush. In fact, just learn the entire record. For best results, student loan money should finance the effort.

I originally learned this record on my fretted 70's jazz bass and have been spending some time lately relearning it on the FL. Don't knock it, Rush has done some of the best progressive music ever made.

If you really want something hurtin', try some of the older Steve Morse/Dregs stuff like the songs on Unsung Heros. These are all completely out of my league, so I've quit trying to learn them but if you're able to play Jaco, this should be well within reach. And it'll tie you up for a good while.

Those are a couple suggestions off the top of my head.

Agreed. However, it appears that you play only fingerstyle. I'd suggest learning Long Distance Runaround, The Return of the Giant Hogweed by Genesis, or Karn Evil 9 2nd Impression by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. You should be able to find good tabs for Long Distance. I've yet to find a completely accurate tab for Hogweed, but they usually cover the basic riff. As for Karn Evil 9, you can find the sheet music here: http://www.exobit.org/~boo/ELP-DISC/KE9_2.pdf
Good luck!

as said above i can slap too... classical thump by victor wooten, ill be honest and say long distance would take me probably less then an hour to learn and get comfortable with. ive looked at the song and the score, its nothing to difficult, but it does look fun to play, i can still learn that.

hey, sounds like you can play very well.
so how about this...
write your own piece.
take your time, don't be afraid to change it around when it feels right.
i think in the end you'll be much more satisfied.
whaddaya say?
