what songs should I learn?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been playing for awhile, I play rockish coldplay vibey music.

I want to start improving my slapping, and funk bass lines though.

I figure the way to improve is to learn some mildly easy slap / funk songs.

can someone give me the tabs to or give me some songs that would help me?

thanks!

here's what I play right now,

Wow, it's cool to see someone mention Abe Laboriel. He was running rings around what some of the bassplayers that are raved about these days can do (not mentioning any names), before those guys could even walk.

Well how well have you learned the technique? If you're just starting on it then you need to hit YouTube up for some slap demo videos.

If you're just trying to improve and want more speed, I'd suggest chili peppers (try "Can't Stop" or the intro from "Higher Ground"). But one of my favorites is "Slowride" by Foghat...neat slap bassline in there. It's a little tricky when you gotta slide up to the 12th on G but you nail it in time (I did...thank God lol).

I sorta learned most of Can't Stop by watching my guitarist play his part, playing by ear, and bits and pieces here and there from tabs. But here are the most accurate tabs for Slowride that I've found:

Hope that helps some =)

check out some of The Beastie Boys CD's, they have some really cool bass lines going on.
