Check this out, found it on youtube.

It's a video explaining what sound is in a simple way. It goes into what sound is physically, what timbre is, how the ears work and how overtones work.

It's about 12 mins long and really interesting. Made a lot of things I sort-of-knew-in-the-back-of-my-head-but-never-really-understood really clear for me.

on you tube, search for "how music works"

A British series that explains in several 10 minute parts, how music works. In laymans terms. And much easier pace than this link.

Yeah, someone else on here posted that bbc series, i already watched it. Also very interesting and it goes a bit deeper into things too.
