I dont know if this is in the right forum so sorry if it isn't. Anyways, I've been playing for a few years and lately I've been having trouble finding songs that arent boring to play. The most impressive song I can play perfectly right now is in dying days by as blood runs black.
So my question is what would be a fun song to learn that would be about as difficult as in dying days? I prefer playing heavier rock and metal music but i dont have a problem with lighter music either. And I'm not very good at slapping so i'd like a song that i can play with my fingers or a pick.
Thanks |

I'd say, at the very least, get Sir Duke and I Wish under your belt. Doesn't matter if you're into Motwon or Stevie Wonder... these are very instructional songs to learn and apply elsewhere. |

Trying to play it exactly as on the recording will keep you busy for a while. |

Before I was taught the songs I had little interest in Stevie Wonder, but my teacher is a Mowtown-nut, so now I've done Sir Duke, Master Blaster, I Wish and Superstition. Brilliant basswork. |

It's got a great groove and a challenging lick in the chorus and works well for pick or finger style. Also check out Cult of Personality by Living Color and if you really want to challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone try some Jamiroquai.
