You sir, are a genious.
Mind if I make a few printouts for the friends I'm trying to teach to play?

Sure, go right ahead. It's a 20 fret fingerboard, mind you...

Very cool. But:

1. Yellow F kinda merges with bright fingerboard.
2. I think picture of bass with fret markers would be better. Learners need some reference points to find the notes.

Very cool. But:

1) Carpet background colors are distracting.
2) The note names should be in the middle of the fret (where you play them), not on or near the fret wire.

I've always thought proper technique was to play almost, if not on top of the fret, honestly.. If I play a note in the middle of two frets, i feel as if the note sounds off. I always fret right up on the fret.

+1 on the carpet being distracting though.

Actually I posted it to show that you can do it with your own bass. This is the whole idea of the thread title...what YOU can do with a camera and MS Paint.
