Just what did you have in mind? Lots of music doesn't use the B string in the first place. OTOH, many classical bass pieces require you to tune the E string down to D or even C, and some upright basses have an extension to the E installed.

Cello music often goes down to that C (although the music is intended to be played an octave higher than you or I would play it on our 5 string bass).
