Where can I find transcriptions?

I'm in a band that only practices once a month. Within this band I have to play in three different settings. A classic rock/popular music setting, a concert band, and a jazz band. We only get to practice once a month so we read at rehearsals A LOT. This wouldn't be a problem if our band director wasn't the most un-organized un-reliable dude in the world...... I've waited for two months and still haven't received charts for even a quarter of the music we play.

So... I need to find a place to download or buy charts for a wide variety of musical styles. I don't even know where to begin with this. I'm new to reading and haven't ever had to do it other than an occasional page out of a real book. Is there a secret treasure chest of transcriptions somewhere?

You could check

Guitar Tab Library | Tablibrary.com

Go to resources and you'll see two places to buy digital downloads of sheet music ...

takes a bit work but they both have electric bass sheet music downloads in both tab and notation

If you have a music store in your area that would be my first stop. See what they have or could order for you. May cost 10% more but you have human help.

Good luck.

You can find some transcriptions made by myself in my blog. Hope they will be useful to you.

Thousands of songs for free. Get Guitar Pro software which includes settings for other instruments. Many song's bass lines are included in transcripts , often quite accurate but sometimes just a workable bass line included to provide low end to song. during playback.

Oooh! I'll have to have a proper look at some of those later today. Thanks, Alvaro.

To the OP - there's some good transcriptions here for reading practice, intermediate level for most of them (some are easier):

Stefan Redtenbacher - Transcriptions - funkybassonline.com

Some more advanced stuff here. Don't be frightened of it, this stuff will improve your reading skills overall if you work at it and consequently help with sight reading more straightforward stuff down the line.

Transcription Page

That lot will keep you busy for a bit.

Sweet thanks guys!! Reading is my new hobby. I almost don't play or practice now unless I've got something to read..... I know that's bad. But it's a lot of fun.
