where to put fingers :S

Ive been playing bass a month and a bit but am confused about intervals / Chords i dont know which fingers to use when playing them like say in this

i have absolutely no idea weather i put my first finger on 11 and 3rd on 13 or 2nd or what.

Is there something i can know and use as a rule of where to put my fingers?

Also for regular music how do you know whether to put your 1st or 2nd finger 3rd or 4th on the 10 in an example like this. My bass teacher told me whatver feels easiest but im still not sure

No rules,use whatever works best for you.BTW,what is regular music?

i couldnt think what to call music without chords :s Also does that mean i can use whatever fingers i like on chords so i just use the same 3 or 2 for everychord?
