Why do certain people feel the need to post?

Sign in to disble this ad
Why do certain people on this forum who are still in the formative years of bass playing give out tips on theory & general bass playing.

If you are not qualified to answer just don't post.
Some of the answers & tips given make me cringe.
Sorry, just venting.

I don't know what you're talking about, but I play better than you for sure. Need advice?

If we have it wrong, someone needs to nicely correct our mistaken beliefs. That way we'll learn.
In my case, I usually point out that I'm quoting something I read elsewhere, or try to: I probably sometimes forget.

Were you referring to this? I think that about sums it up for some people.

There is a rule in place, but perhaps that's not enough.

Maybe there should be a "hall of shame" sticky to highlight the worst of the misinformative posts. Folks might think twice before posting, lest the BS wind up there, along with their user name, for all to gawk at.

Of course since I came up with the idea, I should get immunity.

lol

I admit I'm in the early stages of playing, haven't even been playing 2 years yet. But I like to give input when I think it'll help people. I'm always willing to be corrected if need be.

Ha! That is so true. I hate that! I really don't want any tips from someone who is still blindly trying to find their way around the bass. I've been playing 20 plus years, and if I want advice, it better be from someone who has a lot of experience. I don't need a snot nosed punk who hangs out at GC who think they know it all...

People can always use the "Report" button. Then, our mods, whom I assume are not new to bass playing and all that goes with it, can adjudicate, and delete a post where appropriate.
