working through mark levine's jazz theory book

Sign in to disble this ad
so i recently got mark levine's jazz theory book
and my god this has got to be one of the most thorough books on music theory ever i bairly got past chapter three

what the book has covered so far is intervals, i kind of race through this one becuase i already can read music pretty well, but for those who are reading this and havent read it, heres the point behind being able to tell intervals in written notation, because when your reading a music sheet you don't necessarily need to go "okay thats a b, okay thats a d flat" just once you know what key its in most of the time all you need to really be able to do is know how to determine the interval between two notes
then it picked and punched through the major scale and all of its modes, showed the chords that are derived from each mode
went over progressions and all that sweet jazz

so yeah, i'm only on chapter 4 but this book is the sweet deal and worth a read, but read it slow and fine
