International buyers

Hi,
I am a newbie to Talkbass.
I am an active member of Bass Chat UK and have been for almost 3 years now.
I have feedback under the same username of "Chris Horton"
I joined TB with the main reason of wanting to buy am MTD 535 bass guitar.
It is very hard to find any secondhand MTD 535 's for sale in the UK as they are so rare.

I placed a "wanted" advert for an MTD on TB and had 5 PM's from possible sellers which is great, Thank you.

I am finding that guy's is the US are very weary of newbie buyers and especially international ones. And Rightly so.

My question is -- what things can I do to help the US seller know that I am not a scammer and that I am a genuine person who would like to but an MTD.
I realise that potentially alot of money is involved and that there are risks for both parties.

Can any of you guys please recommend a form of payment that a UK buyer can use to send to a US seller that they would feel confident with please ?

Thanks for reading
Best regards
Chris

Send payment via Western Union. That will put no risk on the seller's part.

The method I'm familiar with is simply visiting a Western Union office, giving them money, and having it sent. The receiving party visits a Western Union office and picks up the money. Here's their webpage: http://www2.westernunion.com/Home
It looks like you can also send it online, but I haven't done this and am not clear on any chance for chargebacks by using this method. I like getting cash in hand with no chance of chargeback before I ship anyting to a buyer I'm concerned about.
