Question for the Classifieds...

Who would like the basses for sale section to be classified by how many strings. For instance I play 5ers, but some of the titles are NOT designated with that info. I don't know all the model numbers, so I waste time looking at 4,6 + stringed instruments that have no interest to me.

They should be separated by color too. I only play red basses. I don't want to waste time looking at stupid white basses or those ones that don't even have paint where you can still see the wood.

I assume all basses are four string unless otherwise specified.

That's the problem...the lack of specification

I'm getting the feeling that most of you that have responded are 4 string players, or play both 4 and 5s. I play 5s exclusively.

If you play fives, then it's easy enough to confirm whether a bass is a 5-string when you inquire about it.

I don't see the need for separate listings.

It's so hard to tell from the pictures, though. Makes sense. The only way to really tell if a bass has 5 strings is to play it and see.

Most people will either list it in their description or you'll be able to see it via their pictures. And if all else fails, you can just ask.

Also, there is an actual discussion forum for the classifieds section.

Some people put up such crappy pictures that you can't even tell it's a bass! Such superior salesmanship impresses me very little.

NO, I'd rather see them all listed together. Most of the titles in the for sale threads I see specify anyway.

I voted *who cares* but after a very careful 2-second reflection I'm thinking *no* would be better- no need to add more categories. I would very much like for sellers to specify in the title the string count. As an old guy, if there's nothing said(in title re string #)I assume we're talking 4-banger, but that's often not the case.

You want to split up the classified section so that you don't have to see ads that you might not be interested in? That seems like a silly request to me--if the title of the ad doesn't interest you, don't look at it. If you're not sure whether you're interested or not, look at it and decide. if you're concerned about wasting time, you probably shouldn't be looking in the classifieds to begin with...
