My new bass! Headed to NY today to get it. And I meet the tour bus tomorrow with it. Can't wait to play it on tour!

Gorgeous. A 6 string with 19mm string spacing, too!

19mm works for me even though I'm a small dude with short fingers! I just love big spaces!

Anthony, it's beautiful. I can't wait to attend a show and hear/see it in action. I have say that I'm surprised by all the knobs and switches. I thought that you were a minimalist.

Yo JMac,

That preamp is standard on all custom Fodera basses. I just leave the EQ flat. I am a minimalist when it come to EQ. But I want the EQ on the bass to adjust for deficiencies in the rooms that I play. Not to 'create' my sound.

I just came from the Wooten concert in Portland, Maine and stumbled upon this thread. Mr. Wellington's "slapping" was really terrific, I was disappointed that (at the the time we had to leave the show, 12pm) he wasn't featured as the other players had been. Oh well.

just beautiful, Ant.....good luck with it!
Unique Features
Built for Bass Player and Educator extraordinaire, Anthony Wellington, this is the most complex Yin Yang we have ever built. Using dark Buckeye Burl with contrasting light Buckeye Burl for the other side of the Yin Yang Symbol makes for a visually stunning instrument and a true one-of-a-kind -- just like the man that will be playing it.

Those of you that know Anthony know that he's got quite a few Foderas (perhaps that's an understatement), but amazingly none of them are six strings. So, when we got the call back in late 2010 that he needed a six-string, we scheduled some time for him to pay us a visit here in Brooklyn. We cannot remember who egged on who in terms of doing a Buckeye Yin Yang symbol, but we sure are glad that we went through with it!

I use DR Strings made out of nickel. 30- 40-60-80-100-120 is the gauge.

What does "4 of 6" mean on the back of the headstock? Simply that this bass is the 4th of six being made for 2012? Or is there some personal meaning?

They only do 6 'custom' Yin Yangs a year because they are so labor intensive. This is the 4th of six to be delivered this year. The plaque is always a nice touch. I'm glad they included my bass in the six.
