I'm about 90% self-taught. I learned by what most of us refer to as 'by ear'. But in reality, I've had many great teachers along the way. But most of them weren't musicians. I've just applied everything I've learned to becoming a better musician.
But when it comes to music knowledge,…
I realized that I was a very logical and efficient person. And most 'teachers' don't approach teaching an instrument in a logical or efficient manner.
If a friend showed me a 'pattern',…I took it upon myself to dissent and per mutate it. So i ended with more ways to practice that pattern than the person who showed it to me.
My whole style of teaching is based on logic and efficiency. And every lesson that I have is based on a curriculum that a created to teach myself.
Bassology was born out of being smart and poor. But if I weren't BOTH of those things coming up I may have not come up with my curriculum.
