Right wrist warping when playing certain finger patterns?
I've been playing bass for almost 3 years yet I haven't been able to break this issue. There's just certain right hand plucking patterns that I can just barely play. I discovered the issue is string skipping while using my middle finger on the lower string. I find it feels very awkward and warps my right sideways. Here's a tough pattern:
I think I'm confused a little by what you're saying.
But it sounds like that you're saying that you're more comfortable 'strictly' alternating index/middle than you are middle/index in some patterns.
I think that's pretty normal.
I'm not really sure what to tell you other than to tell you that some battles are worth fighting for and some aren't. Ultimately, you have to decide that for yourself.
I think there are certain sequences that are just worth having a 'set' comfortable fingering for. That's sounds like this is one if those instances.
But like I said earlier, I'm not really sure what you're a saying.
Keep me posted on your progress.
Yeah, I think you see the main point. It's just hard to lead with the middle finger on certain patterns and it leads to my wrist warping sideways a little to reach up.
Yea, I do. My technique isn't perfect. It's far from it. But I always try to be logical and efficient. But only when being efficient and logical isn't uncomfortable. And when efficiency is uncomfortable I'll always choose 'comfortable'. I think your situation is one of those instances.
Well put, thanks!
