I have to fly to Winnipeg tomorrow. When I check a hardcase, is it necessary to lock the hard case? My Case has no key and Im wondering if thats ok or if it is required to have the case unlocked. Also, you ever carried a bass on an Embraer EMB-145LU (ERJ-145LU)? Did it fit?

I haven't flown on that model plane before. If its a regional jet a soft case won't fit on the plane. A hard case won't fit on any passenger that I know of. Actually, it may fit. They just won't let you bring it on. Not even gig bag will fit on most regional jets.

If you lock the case and TSA can't get in it they'll break in. The same with suitcases. You have to use a 'TSA' lock for luggage that you want to lock.
