budding music writer

Howdy Mr. Johns. I am a writer who plays bass, and I have a knack for rhyming. It seems a logical path to follow would be writing lyrics. I am not a music writer though... so, I can't write songs.

I have a thread called "free custom lyrics" in miscellaneous where I put up lyrics that I'm working on, I figure that there is a better chance of someone using them there than in my head.

I am wondering what I could do to become a person that musicians ask for lyrics. I've seen competitions and whatnot, but they seem like scams... you have to pay to enter. Are there people who take lyrics and musicians and put them together?
