How to take a groove solo of a I-IV vamp
 

Hi Doug,

About once a gig I get called for a solo (because they never learn). Often, it's on a song we play that vamps from the I to IV chord (1 bar each). I have a lot of trouble building anything happening over those changes. Usually it sounds like I'm playing a bunch of 2 bar phrases.

Any advice on how to handle changes like this in a funk/rock context?
