audition coming up- out of shape!

I've got an audition coming up for a really great sounding gig: only problem is that I'm waay out of shape with my upright technique.

Anyone know any good exercises to get my hands back in shape quickly? I've been focusing so much on electric lately that I'm afraid of serious intonation and endurance issues on the upright.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

2 octave scales and arpeggios in all keys with multiple fingerings!
If you had more time, I'd say pick a key a week and really work it out but in your situation, it may be better to pick a key a day.

Also, somewhere floating around talkbass is a pdf file of Max Dimoff's 9 pages of warmups. There's some great material in there to isolate shifting, build finger strength, dexterity, and intonation. Try a search for it.

G'luck!

Relax. Feel, musicality and personality-fit are more important than technical perfection . . . on any gig you'd really want to have.

Beyond that, just take it easy, don't try to build up so quick that you get blisters or worse. Like the gent says above, play scales and see what parts of the fingerboard need the most attention intonation-wise. Try to build up to some decent tempos so you can at least hack the audition.

It'll come back. Good luck!

I searched for a while and found it on Jason Heath's Blog.

Scroll down to technique, it's Max Dimoff's Warm-Up Packet. Great stuff!
