Berklee this summer

No one here knows me since I've rarely posted, but I'm a 17 year old double bass player, heading off to nearby boston for berklee's 5-week summer performance program. I applied this winter, got a $900 scholarship, and a spot boarding in the on-campus housing. Jazz performance!

My audition for placement is going to be on green dolphin street, I'm going to play the meoldy, walk a bassline, and solo through the changes. (for an audition they just said to play something for about 3 minutes, so i figured I would do a nice standard and show off my improv skills).

Anyone attended this program before? Any advice? Wish me luck!

Thanks

Hey man, I'm really jealous of you. I almost applied for that, but didn't in the end. I have friends who did it, and they loved it. I'm sure you'll have a blast, and learn a ton. Best of luck!

As a current Berklee student, I can tell you that the best thing to do is just soak up as much information as you can. Become a sponge. Realize that the people teaching you have been around the block many times and know quite a bit about music, being a professional musician, life, etc, so try to suck up as much information as possible.

Also, make sure your chops are at 100% so you can keep up and push yourself. Don't go in cold.

Have fun man, Boston is a great city.
