Christian McBride Bow Solo

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know of any Christian McBride bow solos I can transcribe for school? Please don't refer me to a John Clayton Solo, Jimmy Blanton, or anyone else- I need it to be Christian McBride. Thanks!

Danny

I may be wrong, but I think there are some on the live trio recording with Chick Corea and Steve Gadd.

I thought he did one with John Pizzarelli and Joshua Redman too, but I don't quite remember.

He and Ray Brown are my two favorite bass players- in my juries, my classical teacher suggested a bowed solo. I know Christian studied classical bass and bow use (and some of you might say that he wasn't a "great" classical player). I love his bowed solos, especially because of how he articulates certain phrases and it never sounds forced. I've always wanted to study one and now I have a chance to.

These Are Soulful Days...

You can hear Christian playing at least one bowed solo on Benny Green's These Are Soulful Days. I lost the CD but remember being overwhelmed by his facility with the bow.

There's one pretty simple solo on a trio recording (one of my personal favourite recordings) with Roy Hargrove and Stephen Scott.
The song is Parker's Cardboard and the recording is called "Parkers Mood", some great trio stuff there.

Dude, If you can find "Three by Four" off one of the SuperBass albums, McBride plays the s*%t out of the bass using the bow. Really Really bad!!
