Smile Confused attack and expectant timing

Hi,
I'm a double bass player and this is my first post.

I have two questions.

1) When I play, the attack of the note isn't enough fast, so the speel is confused and the sentences aren't sufficiently clear.

2) The timing isn't relaxed, it looks too expectant.
My bass line isn't a walking bass but a "running bass".

How can I solve these problems? Let give me an aid! Thanks, andrea

Hi Andrea,

Please fill out your profile so we can help you better. What part of the world are you from?

As to your questions, I have two thoughts. First, are you practicing with a metronome? If not, this is a must for anyone having timing problems. Second, if you are having problems with rushing, try making the physical gesture/motion of your right hand larger and more circular - this will tend to relax the time and even it out. Fill in some more info, and good luck.

Hey Andrea,

Perhaps your trying to play TOO FAST? Slow it down. If you can't execute something at a fast tempo, slow it down and work your way up to it, pracitcing it in increasing increments.
Hope this helps.
