Graduate School Suggestions

Hi all,

I hope this is the right forum to post this in.

I'm going to be finish up my BA in Music Eduction this spring and I need to start looking for graduate schools now.

I'm hoping i can find somewhere to go for Jazz Performance or Jazz Pedagogy as Jazz is my true passion and Education or Classical Performance just won't allow enough time to focus on jazz. However; my chops probably aren't up to par with someone who has been studying jazz performance for their undergrad. Therefore, I'm hoping to find a smaller school where the bass teacher is a professional player and teaches a couple days a week. They must be a good teacher though (as many really good players can't teach so well)

Right now i'm in New York State but I'm willing to go anywhere really.

So Far I'm looking at:

North Texas (I think i have some connections to the faculty there) , Cincinnati, Rowan University, and McGill in Montreal is kind of my reach school.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks Much,
Jeff

I don't know very much about schools, but McGill is a great school. I've seen some really good musicians around town who are studying there. (Also, Montreal is great!)

I hear NYU Steinhardt is pretty good.
