Hand cramping

I have been playing bass for a few years now but I am starting to begin some more technical and advanced pieces. However, I have been largely hindered by cramps in my bowing hand. I try to concentrate on keeping my bow hand loose, but it doesn't always work, and I need to focus on the harder musical pieces. Is there anyway to stretch or condition my hand so that I don't cramp up so easily (besides playing more)? The cramp is usually between my thumb and first finger and on the bottom side of hand near the pinkie.

1. Play quieter until it stops happening.
2. Use less bow.
3. Stay close to the frog.
4. Use a sticky rosin like Carlsson.
5. Let some motion happen in your wrist and fingers on every bow change.
6. Use the weight of the bow only until the pain stops creeping in.
7. Bow closer to the fingerboard.
8. Use less left hand pressure since that influences the right hand. I start tight players out by telling them to only bring the string down enough to make contact with the fingerboard.

Hope this is helpful. By the way, this works with German bow as well.
