I've been comtemplating Paul's idea that the notes sound be "squeezed" rahter than "plucked". Not exactly sure yet what "squeezing" means exactly since this kinda thing is hard to describe. I've also been taught to play with a relaxed hand and slightly curled fingers. Seems like it takes less effort than if you kept your fingers completely straight.

Yeah I think this is what alot of us are saying. It's nice to duck back into half and first position when your intonation is sketchy. Lately I've been singing a target note or two when I'm playing near-TP and using that as a reference/relative tone. When things get too sloppy I'm right back at the nut.
