How would you play this arpeggio?

On a recent gig I had for a musical, I was pondering the best way to play an ascending F arpeggio from low F on the E string to the F on the G string. The line is F A C F A C F and is played as 8th notes at about 180 bpm. How would you finger this line for the best sound and ease of movement? I think it was marked for arco, but I played it pizz.

I would definitely use the open string to facilitate a cleaner shift.

I would use this over the fingering with the C on the E string because to get from that C to the next F (interval of a fourth between the E and A string) requires either a string jump with the 2nd finger, a bowed knuckle with the 2nd finger which would be bad, or a somewhat awkward hand tilt with the first finger fingering the C and the 2nd finger fingering the F. Fingering 4ths on the bass can be a difficult thing and the shift required with the fingering I am suggesting should be easy for anyone who is steeped in the closed hand technique championed by Simandl.

Man, I can't see how you can play without barring perfect fourths in neck position. All you have to do is transfer the weight on your finger from one string to the other; there is hardly any motion at all. Keeping your fingers upright and curved is great and all, but I think sacrificing an easier fingering to maintain them is silly. Then again, I've been taught using George Vance and Rabbath. The first suggestion is how I typically play the F arpeggio.

Hey everybody,
Thanks for all the input. I looked at the music again and it is all marked staccato. I'm glad I asked the question because I was playing it all at half position until I hit the G string and then played the C and last F as shifts up the G, which probably is not very efficient. Needless to say, I had mixed success hitting that last F.

Looks a bit weird but I can see the logic - do the biggest shift while you're playing an open string...

It's OK now since we're talking about F major.
Now what in F# major? I try to find fingerings which are applicable generally.
