After my first lesson ...

... I am fully onboard with the notion that crossing over from bass guitar to upright should be done with professional help. I was holding the instrument wrong, and didn't fully grok the way 1/2 and 3/4 on the left hand are supposed to work together. My right hand thumb was up (a la BG) instead of down for one finger technique, and I was having all kinds of muting issues as well as a thin sound.

Anybody doing this conversion without a teacher had better be a musical genius, or have good medical insurance.

You guys were right, I got a teacher and it has helped tremendously.
