kitten vs. metronome

kitten wins, apparently. it was up on the bookshelf, and i guess the motion was irresistible. two dvds and a sterling candlestick on a hardwood floor later, i figured if i brought it down for him to look at maybe he'd realize it was actually a pretty boring item. at first, it was pretty cute - he kept turning it on and off, but eventually he figured out how to bite the weight, so into a drawer it went (the metronome). now i have to dig out my stupid little electronic one. the sound is so much more grating.

I remember going to a music shop to get my first metronome. I was so disappointed when the sales worker handed me this dinky little electronic thing. I've got a nice antique wooden one at home now, but it is really too big to lug around the music school with all my other gear.

yeah, the battery powered ones definitely have a leg up for portability. they just sound like someone hitting you in the head with a wooden spoon 135 times every minute. also, they don't look as cool on the mantle.
