Looking for Jazz DB teacher in Springfield, MO area

Hey Guys,

Looking to make the jump to DB after years on EB. I'm trying to locate a good jazz DB instructor in the area and I'm not having much luck. I've checked with some area college's etc. but so far nothing.

Know anyone in the area? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Stephen

have you talked to Randy Hamm @ MSU. He is the Jazz guru in springfield. If anyone would know it would be him. If you would be willing to travel to Columbia you could try Kevin Hennessey.

If you have any more questions i might be able to help

Great instructor at Lake Ozarks

I would highly recommend Art Langston if you could drive to Osage Beach for lessons--Art plays bass with clarinetist Len Zimmer at the Country Club Hotel, has been a professional jazz player and instructor many years. Taught bass at UT Austin. He lives in Jefferson City, but plays four nights a week at the Lake and has several students in the Lake area. Check him out at http://www.bassace.com/

I moved from Bass Guitar to upright six months ago, and have been taking lessons from Art since then--he is a perfectionist when it comes to technique, but has a great way of helping you figure out your musical goals and constructing a lesson plan to meet them.

He also has extensive knowledge of both classical and jazz literature.

Hey, I didn't know there were so many other guys local to me...more or less!
Hello!
I'm playing with "The Fried Crawdaddies" at Jazz in Columbia tomorrow night. If any of you want to come by, I'd love to meet you...they have really great food.

MarcusWillett is another guy here you could pm about help, he's the music director at the Andy Williams theatre....
