Muller Rusch Method Book

I just won an auction for 11 different Bass books, and one of the books is book two of the Muller Rusch Method. Have any of you used or played from this method book? What's it contain?

It looks old, as do all the other books.

The rest of the books in the auction are as follows: An old copy of book one of Simandl, the complete parts for strauss tone poems, mozart haydn and weber works, complete orchestral works of brahms, complete beethoven symphonies, complete tchaikovsky orchestral works, seven baroque sonatas, complete parts to 36 overtures and solos for the double bass player.

They are probably all written for the old set up - pre @1960. They will work but there are better choices today. Check my article at Bill's site - classical column - bottom - old set up vs. new w/examples of why.

I use Mark Morton's fingering ideas on most all pieces or etudes i play. I think your concepts and his are very similar?

I'm not getting these books for the fingerings, I'm getting them for the notes. I'll change the fingerings as I learn the excerpts.

Yep. We've worked together on this American School concept for about 10 or 12 years now. Great player!
