The Music Lesson

Have you read this book by Victor Wooten? Did it make a change in your playing/practicing?

I'm about half-way through. The verdict is still out, but I do find that it has given me a different perspective on making music and practicing.

Great book. You might also like Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werner. The idea behind both books, IMO is to release the music that is already there; to think beyond the mechanics to the feeling of it.
Sure, Vic is a little 'out there', but he offers a valuable perspective.

I like the book. A little odd at times but the overall message is clear.

really enjoyed the book. its hasn't helped my playing directly, but It puts me in a better mindset to be a better player, if that makes any sense. It also generally just puts me in a good mood, and that's always good for your playing. I had some trouble digesting Effortless Mastery, I read it a couple of years ago, maybe I should give it another try...

haven't read effortless mastery, but i have seen two of kenny werner's seminars on the ideas behind the book. i would try to see kenny do one of these lecture/seminars. very inspiring, kenny werner changed my life a little.

Love the book. Every bass player out there should be hip to Vic's "10 elements of Music" it helped me get through my first tour with flying colors. It is pretty out there, but it helps to remember it's mostly fiction.

I read it a couple years ago. I wouldnt say it changed the way i practice, but it did open my mind way up musically, which of course affected my playing positively.
