It ain't perfect, but Crazy Glue is the best thing. Depending on your injury location, and how hard you play, you may have to re-apply occasionally.

As for its effect on your body, I am told by my doctors that it is completely safe. They use it in emergency rooms now, although it has a different name.

You've just described life for bassists in the '50's, before the advent of amplifiers. The only difference was you might have to play the next night.
