| IMO, there are a number of ways to skin the proverbial cat, and using these videos as another practice tool in one's tool box can't really hurt. It's not a question of not having "that information", but rather another way of utilizing the information that one has. Assuming a student is working through an accepted bass study methodology with a real live teaching person, is it not OK to also watch Bill's videos on YouTube, or play along with an Aebersold book, or play Real Book charts with other musicians? The key word is "helpful".
