Pinched Nerve. Need Advice

All opinions from the learned bunch are appreciated.

Tonite, on a gig, I'm playing on the E-string in 5th/6th position and obviously made a wrong move when I received a lightning bolt in my hand. It feels like a pinched nerve. It's been a couple hours since it happened. The large muscle at the base of my thumb is a bit sore. My pointing finger is a bit sore. My hand in general feels like it's been through some trauma - just doesn't feel right. I've been stretching it, and honestly am pretty freaked out. Tomorrow morning will be very telling.

Advice? Excercises (stretches)? Hot and Cold? Lay off it?

p.s. I remember Bob (All Hail!) Gollihur had some problems. Bob??

Nojazzloco,
me no understand you.

Injury update (The morning after):
My nerve problem IS from the thumb. I have a slight tingle from the base of the thumb that extends down the inside of the arm.

Does anyone know this injury? Any advice?

a "bump" is when someone replies to a thread to keep it "at the top" so others will see it and hopefully respond to help you.

i was just trying to help.

Nojazzloco,

Capice. Thanks man. I've got an appt today with my GP to authorize a specialist. The hand and harm have tingles that move around. I have a warm spot here, a tingle there. Weird.

Metron,

Thanks for the concern. My GP knows how important my hands are to me. He prescribed Vioxx (an anti-inflammatory), said to take it easy, if it doesn't feel better in 3-4 days to call him.

I haven't played since Wed night and as of this writing it certainly not getting worse and in fact feels ok. Major relief. Now, I have to talk to a veteran URBist to find out what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks again guys for your posts. - Larry
