playing avishai's "smash"

so my drummer decided to arrange the avishai cohen tune "smash," off the record continuo, because it's such a challenging drum beat to play.

well this is to those who know the tune, and especially those who have played it. i'm wondering what people do on the groove in terms of left hand technique (fingering the last 1-octave-5 which is G D G) to keep the intonation sounding good. i noticed even avishai played some bad intonation during his intro off the record.

also there is a break where the bass plays a more slightly more complicated variation of the groove alone, and there i'm wondering if people have right hand technique tips?

i'm making it work but it's kicking my ass hardcore. any tips are welcome thanks!

That is a nuts song to play on upright, i've only ever seen it played, or played it myself on electric.
