I think I am getting the hang of it but when I play on the E string mainly my wrist is up and hurts and I dont know how to correct it. Do you guys know?

I sounds like you're wrapping your arm around to reach the E string. You have to adjust your stance a bit, likely. Do you have a big mirror that you can check yourself with? You can pick up a full-length mirror at KMart for at most $20. Your best bang for the buck -- probably ever.

Much. You really need to get yourself to a teacher. It's really worth a big road trip if there is noone near you.

+1 I really question a teacher who doesn't teach a proper stance. My teacher plays French I (usually) play German, but he can teach German. Unless there is some severe physical ailment we're not aware of, there should be no reason whatsoever that your current teacher can't teach you how to stand with your bass.

Thanks Aaron. Ya but my teacher has never stood before in her life. She has always used a stool. All of her teachers play sitting.
