Thinking of changing to carbon fiber endpin

I'm thinking of making the change from the stock steel endpin. Has anyone here done this? Any thoughts? Is the improvement in sound (if there is one) worth $58 or does it simply make the bass a little lighter?

Arnold Schnitzer installed a carbon fiber endpin on my walnut bass. I think it's superb. I don't know what you're looking at, and truthfully, I don't even know who made mine.
