Thumb Pain

Well i play jazz so this seems the right forum.
Anyways i just developed this pain in my right thumb a day or two ago, and i want it cured. When i play pizzicato i have to be super conscious about not using my thumb to get extra picking force, and it hurts to play with my german bow. I think my problem is bad bow technique because that hurts more.
What do you guys think?

Hey, that sounds to me like a posture problem. Try to do some hand exercises to get your fingers relaxed.

Any suggestions as to exercises to try, and do you mean hand posture, or back posture?

Sorry for the delay Jolk!, I meant your hand posture, or the tension that you put into playing. Try to be more relaxed, for hands I reccomend you to do this http://datarealm.com/marbeth/relaxation.html until you feel your fingers relaxed.

For the back, you can lay down on the floor with a towel rolled and placed right under your column. That's sooo damn relaxing!.

thanks for that recommendation, i'm always looking for new ways to relax.
I found that the pain was a result of that tension, but the reason for the tension was that i had just raised the height of my bass and i failed to readjust my right arm's posture. I repositioned my elbow and that allowed me to relax my right hand.
