I'm 16, I play in a jazz quartet. At the moment, we don't play many tunes from the Real Book. Shorter's Armageddon is the only tune we play every so often. We write our own music. Our set consists of all originals unless we've been asked to play otherwise. It works that way, so that's how it's gona stay.

Our taste is so different. If you ask me for a favorite tune I give you a list of >100 tunes.

Why not listening to a lot of CD´s and find out a tune that you like and then try to find the sheets.

If I hear a nice tune that I cannot find it in the note books I buy a CD and transcribe it note by note by listening. Then figure out the voicing of the chords with help of a piano.
