| No, I don't have the full windings around the tuner - I have a reverse headstock partially because I want to be able to use long scale "E"'s on my short scale. I have about the same amount of silk before the tuner (~ 2 inches) as on my short scale "D" string and considerably more than on my short scale "G" string Quote: |
Check for a string twist and then shoot me a email and we can see what we can do for you.
| I actually pulled it out of the body and top mounted it and it seems better but still considerably "deader" that the other three. I do have another so I'll try that. In any case it's probably my fault but thanks for the offer . I do like the tension and size of the string but maybe I should try the "stock" shortscale "E" before giving up on GHS pressurewounds - but I'd expect the .096 to have less "highs" than the .106, not more?

The three higher strings sound great. Now I just have to find where I put my other set so I can try another 106

There is only a couple hours on the others - I wonder what's up with that? Do they really break-in that quickly or are those also damaged from having been strung body-thru? Those three do sound like what I'd expect them to sound like after being broken in - both growly and thumpy . I suppose I could put the other three on from the "new" set and see what's up or play it a couple hours and see if the "zing" on the "E" goes away first? Actually it sounds kinda cool to have an "E" with more highs that the others .

Swapped out the DR Black Beauties for Dragon Skins on my 3 Roscoes today. So far, I am REALLY digging the results, even through my little Ampeg practice amp. They feel great, and seem to be inherently brighter than the BB's (which I was hoping for, since they are stainless instead of nickle). So far, I think I might be converted from my beloved Black Beauties.....

There seems to be a lot of folks running around claiming they're round core but the only thing I've found that is at all official looking claims them to be hex: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/newb...php?startid=37

I was using a Snark headstock tuner before I got turned on to these (these are more compact, have an easier to read display, and actually pick up my low B better than the Snark did).
I haven't used my Polytune pedal in months---I've used nothing but headstock tuners--the blue Snark one up until very recently, when I got one of these (and I liked it so much that I immediately ordered two more, so that I had one for each bass).
