TalkBass Forums - I've bought a bass- how do I ship it?

I'm stuck... I bought another upright bass from E-Bay, at Christmas, but it is still sitting in California. A friend out there picked it up for me from the seller- it is a Becker bass, but we all are scratching our heads as to shipping!

Trying to have it shipped for around $100-$150.00, but then someone tells me it has to be this and that and MUST be shipped some special FREIGHT- not Fed-Ex 3, and then, I start getting quotes around $200-$300, and can't afford to ship it out here to my house!!

Would appreciate any ideas or knowledge you might care to share...

I got this bass because my grand daughter wants to learn double bass now and I said I would teach her. This bass came up and I went for it, so she can have the one I am currently using as hers. Would sure like to get this bass out here to me so i could start this idea!!! Thanks alot, Gloria
