Old fashioned canvas bass bag

Does anyone remember the old fashioned bass bags that were made from canvas. They were unlined and rather light. The bag I have now weights more than my bass. Has anyone seen these old style canvas bags for sale? Does anyone have one for sale?

I have seen something like that, not made from canvas, but made from light and thin synthetic material (cordura).
Unfortunately I cannot give you a hint where to get them.

But you know that you won't have any impact protection from such a bag.
If you only have a cheap plywood instrument this might be OK, otherwise look out for a leightweight alternative with some padding.

Yeah, I know. I'll use the padded bag when I travel, but I'd like a lighter bag when I just drive into town.

I have an original Kay bag that came with a '39 Kay but its not in very good shape.

My wife made her own very slightly padded bag from upholstery fabric and polyester quilting batt material. Its a great bag to carry and the handles are exactly where she needs them to be.

I see a lot of bags in the shop and hers is the easiest one to put on and take off that I've ever used. If she'd only make some, I could sell them.

I would love a pattern for a Canvas bag, or directions on how to make one!

I would get your material, trace your bass onto it, take it to either a tailor or a place that does auto interiors ( check with any new car dealership ), have them sew it together and install whatever zipper you hsve chosen.

The Christopher/Concord basic bag is very close in nature to the old canvas bags.

Is this really what you're looking for? I bought it before I knew there WERE padded bags, so I've long felt I paid too much and got too little.
