Rubber protectors for side of basse

I've put them on three basses. My current and likely lifetime bass has had them for three years and only one has fallen off it's back on.

I made my own out of a couple of layers of belt leather bonded together with Barge cement. Secured them to the bass with double-stick carpet tape.

I've used the clear tubing you get at the hardware store. It doesn't work on all basses but Its cheap and easy to replace. I slice long pieces with a razor and then cut them to the size I need, and as the pieces I have installed fall off I just install a new one. The key to cutting the tubing is to cut a straight line so it stays on. I use a 2 by 4 block of wood and a thumb tack at each end of the tubing, then I get a pretty straight line with my razor blade.
Good luck

I have a Bass Matt, so let me second that. Mine's a high-visibilty red, so it has the added benefit of making other folks on the stage more aware of my instrument. Also, I can lay the instrument down on either side.

Will the adhesive take off the instrument's finish when it falls off or removed? Or, in other words, what kind of adhesive is the best to use?
